The Indian Bureau of Standards (BIS) is India's standardization and certification authority, specifically responsible for product certification, and it is also India's only product certification body.

The ISI logo issued by BIS (see the figure below) is a mark that the product complies with the Indian Standard and is also in compliance with the product specification. All BIS certifications are performed in accordance with the Indian Standards. Those who have passed the tests and obtained certificates use the common ISI logo. For more than 40 years, the IS logo has been a symbol of quality products in India and its neighboring countries. Since a considerable part of the Indian standards are consistent with the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) and the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) standards, the Indian Standard Numbers are also basically in accordance with the ISO/IEC Standards. Some standards also have double numbering, such as IS/ISO or IS/IEC, so the With IS/ISO, IS/IEC dual logo.
