Overview

Energy performance of electrical and electronic products, more and more attention of the average consumer, there are requirements for the certification of energy consumption of electronic and electrical products around the world.

Testing & Certification Australia MEPS certification also carried out for the Australian market. The Australian government's energy requirements include energy consumption labels and minimum energy consumption standards (MEPS).

       The Energy Rating label is a comparative label. The label graphic (shown below) contains a rectangular base and a semicircle at the top of the base. This semicircle is a “dial” like a star rating. The dial is marked with six stars in a semi-circle and arranged in a clockwise direction along the dial. The more stars, the higher the energy efficiency and the lower the operating cost. The middle of the cradle identifies the estimated amount of electricity (washing machine water consumption) in the year (or hourly) under the "normal" service conditions of the appliance, that is, the CEC.

Range

All of the following electronic products sold in Australia are subject to mandatory energy labeling:

     Refrigerators and Ice Makers, Washing Machines, Clothes Dryers, Dishwashers, Air Conditioning (Single-phase Mandatory, Three-phase Voluntary)

The following products also need to be controlled on the basis of the Minimum Energy Consumption Standard (MEPS) - that is, their minimum energy consumption levels:

* Refrigerator and ice maker (implemented on October 1, 1999, revised on January 1, 2005)

    * Main pressure storage type electric water heater (executed from October 1, 1999)

    * Small-scale main pressure storage type electric water heater (<80L) and low-pressure heat exchange type (implemented from October 1, 2005) (refer to the AGO limits and test methods)

    * Three-phase motors (0.73 kW to <185 kW) (implemented on October 1, 2001, revised in April 2006)

    * Single-phase air conditioning (implemented on October 1, 2004, revised respectively in 2006, 2007 and April 1, 2008)

    * Three-phase air conditioners with a cooling capacity of 65 kW (implemented on October 1, 2001 and amended on October 1, 2007)

* Straight fluorescent lamp ballast (from 1 March 2003). Note that in addition to MEPS, the ballast also needs to indicate the performance index (EEI).

* Straight fluorescent lamps - 550mm to 1500mm and lighting power greater than 16W (executed on October 1, 2004)

    * Distribution Transformers – 11 kilovolts and 22 kilovolts rated from 10 kiloamps to 2.5 megaamps (as of October 1, 2004)

* Commercial refrigerator (self-contained and remote control system) (implemented from October 1, 2004)

Although the following products have not been included in the mandatory management catalog, they will also have to comply with the energy consumption regulations and obtain certifications in the near future. Some of these products

The execution date has been determined.

    * External power supply (implemented on October 1, 2008);

    * Set-top box (implemented on October 1, 2008);

    * Television;

    * Home entertainment equipment: (audio and video equipment) (implemented on October 1, 2008);

    * Hot and cold water dispensers;

    * vending machines;

    * Commercial ice machines;

    * Tube series;
